Today’s Gratitude List, which I admit I’m not doing so well keeping up with on here, is up to the letter I. I do believe I’m going to have to choose individuality for the letter I. I am so grateful that we all are individuals. I’m glad we all have our own minds, personalities and thoughts. Can you imagine how boring life would be if we were all exactly the same? It would be like living in Stepford!
William Ellery Channing, the American writer, said the following:
No one should part with their individuality and become that of another.
I agree. Who we are is who we are and that’s a great thing! When we’re young, we are led to be similar to those around us. School uniforms, classrooms teaching the same exact lesson to each child, and everyone expected to tow the line in the same exact way. Yet, there is an entire classroom of individuals sitting there and not a one of them thinks like the others. Thank God for imagination!
What traits do you have that make up your essence? What quirks do people point out that express you and your individuality? Embrace them today. Be just you. Do you. Be happy being just you. You are a masterpiece. You are an amazing soul. See your own worth today and enjoy being you. I know I am going to do just that all day today.
