Do you prefer to help someone else over helping yourself? Do you put others before yourself? Do you enjoy finding ways to assist those around you? I would imagine most of us say that of course we prefer to help someone else. We also all can also tell, almost instantly, when we walk into a business, or a home, if the people there come from a help someone else first place or a help myself first place. Today’s Daily Quote is from Harvey S. Firestone, the American tire giant. He was born on December 20, 1868. He said the following:
It is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.
So true, Mr. Firestone, so true. I can so relate to that on a professional level. Obviously my job is all about helping people develop by seeing the truth so that they can make the proper decisions for their lives. I would venture to say that your job allows you to help someone else every single day as well. The only way we can succeed, is to continue to be that person is who is always there to help. If our clients/customers know that we are there, that they can count on us, and that they know they’ll get the help that they need, we cannot help but succeed.
For today, let’s focus on where we can help someone develop or where we can lend a hand in some way. It doesn’t have to be limited to our jobs. Whether it’s giving that single mother down the street a few extra dollars for the holidays, or giving the old lady across the road a ride to her doctor’s appointment, or helping someone do a chore, let’s do something! Most of you know where to seek your help, so be that resource for someone around you. When we help someone else, we feel so good. At least I know I do! Tis the season to be charitable and helpful. You have a good excuse. Let me know how it goes.
