Do you agree with me? Are you wondering why I’m asking you that? Are you wondering, “Agree with WHAT?”. Today’s Daily Quote may explain. It’s from George III, the King of England who was born on June 4, 1738. He said the following:
A traitor is everyone who does not agree with me.
When I first read this, I chuckled. Then I realized he could have been serious. Then I started thinking about people I know who actually think this way. I think we all know people who have this mindset. If you do not agree with them, they shut you down or push you out. I prefer authenticity around me. Do you agree with me? I don’t care! I want to know what you think. If you and I differ in opinion, that’s okay with me.
For today, let’s look at the “YES” people we have in our lives. Let’s also look if we’re “YES” people in someone else’s life. Do you expect people to adopt your opinion, viewpoint, habits or beliefs? Do you get mad at people when they don’t agree with you or offer a varying opinion? If your answer is “Yes”, I’m going to ask you to ask yourself why that is that way. Why is it important to you that people agree with you? Why is it important to you to always be right?
On the flip side, are you one who always agrees with people around you whether it’s within your belief system or not? Do you state your opinions based on what you desire someone to think or feel about you? This cannot feel good. This cannot feel authentic. Do you agree with me on those points? I personally prefer hearing the truth over hearing someone’s fake opinion!
Key Point to Remember: Form your own opinions. Allow others to have theirs. Someone does not have to agree with you to love and/or support you.
