Animal spirit totems are all around us. I personally draw cats like Catwoman. Cats, as most of us know, were held in high regard in ancient Egypt. Maybe lesser known stories come from Scandinavian lore in the form of Freyja, goddess of fertility, and Hindu traditions with Shasthi, the goddess of childbirth, as well. Cats are also commonly associated with curiosity, independence, unpredictability and nine lives. They are also associated with healers and healing. Their purring is on a healing frequency so they can actually heal themselves, or us, by purring. We all have heard of the witches “familiar” which is a spirit in the form of a black cat. For the record, I have found that my own cats aid tremendously when I am giving psychic readings. Their purr and the calm energy brings balance to the reading environment. Cats are also nocturnal. Because to humans the dark is the holder of fears, the cat has taken on the mystery and the magic of nighttime and darkness.
A few things that are not well known about the Cat is that they help us with meditation. They also assist us in our dreams. Cats love to sleep with humans. Part of that is because they are dreaming with us and being our lovely assistants. We also forget about the Cat’s ability to fight when cornered or challenged.
If you find that your Animal Spirit Totem is the Cat, take a look at these traits and see how the Cat is teaching you. Do you see magic and mystery around you? An Animal Spirit Totem reading could help show you clearly what animals are helping you right now.
